Gibraltar goalkeeper hopes to let in less than seven goals in Germany

Gibraltar goalkeeper Jordan Perez has said he hopes his side do not concede more than six goals against Germany as the minnows prepare for their 2016 European Championship qualifier against the World Cup winners on Friday.

"I'll be pleased when we concede less than seven goals," Perez, who was substituted for Jamie Robba in Gibraltar's 7-0 defeat against Republic of Ireland and did not start the 3-0 defeat to Georgia, told Sport Bild.

"We'd be able to say that we are better than Brazil [who lost 7-1 to Germany in the World Cup semifinals]," the keeper, who earns a living as a fireman, added.

Gibraltar began their first qualifying campaign with back-to-back 7-0 defeats to Poland and Republic of Ireland, and coach Allen Bula said after the game in Dublin: "Some of the lads said they felt like they were in a Playstation match."

Meanwhile, Germany are looking to end the year on a high with a goal feast against their unheralded opponents.

German football weekly kicker published stats detailing Germany's highest wins, with their highest being a 16-0 win over Russia at the 1912 Olympics in Stockholm.

In one of coach Joachim Low's first games in charge of Die Nationalmannschaft, Germany recorded a 13-0 away win at San Marino in September 2006.

Low's assistant Thomas Schneider told a news conference on Wednesday that the Germans would "take Gibraltar dead seriously," while midfielder Lars Bender added: "We should not underestimate the opponent, and need to tackle this task with full concentration."
