Sunshine, Ifeanyi progress to Aiteo Cup semifinals

Defending champions FC Ifeanyi Ubah and fellow Premier League side Sunshine Stars earned Aiteo Cup semifinal tickets, while the third quarterfinal scheduled for Jos between Plateau United and Niger Tornadoes was postponed until Sunday as a result of bad weather.

ABS FC 0 FC Ifeanyi Ubah 1

FC Ifeanyi Ubah sealed their place in the final four of the Aiteo Cup with a narrow win away at ABS FC.

Ikeokwu Patrick was the match winner for the defending champions with his 74th minute goal.

Adeshina Gata, Samuel Oyedeji both came close for the home team, but they found goalkeeper Drissa Bamba in inspired form on the day, securing an away win for the Anambra Warriors who are well on course to keeping hold of the trophy.

Sunshine Stars 3 Osun United 1

Sunshine Stars overturned a first-leg defeat to secure the bragging rights in the south west derby and ultimately a semifinal place against the winner of the Akwa United vs. Katsina United Feeders tie.

On a rainy day in Ijebu-Ode, all four goals were scored in the second half. Ajibola Otegbeye's brace and Sikiru Alimi's 81st-minute penalty rendered Tosin Omoyele's 76th minute strike a mere consolation for the Nigeria National League side, who must have gained valuable experience getting to this stage of the competition.
