Nigeria have moved up one place in the latest edition of the FIFA world rankings, while Kenya took more points than any other national side.

The Harambee Stars have picked up a whopping 22 points according to the latest edition of the rankings, released on Thursday.

After memorably beating Ghana 1-0 at home in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, before dispatching Malawi in a friendly, Sebastian Migne's side have moved up five places to 107th in the world.

The Black Stars, by contrast, have been penalised after their surprise defeat, and subsequently plummet six places to 51st. No one lost more points or dropped further in the rankings than Ghana.

Nigeria's victory over the Seychelles take them up from 49th to 48th, retaking the spot they lost in the first rankings revealed since their disappointing display at the World Cup.

Their climb comes after victories over Seychelles in an AFCON qualifier and Liberia in a friendly fixture.

Gernot Rohr's Super Eagles will end the month fifth in Africa, behind Tunisia (23rd worldwide), Senegal (25), Democratic Republic of Congo (40) and Morocco (45).

Reigning AFCON champions Cameroon remain 50th in the world, with South Africa climbing one spot overall to 73rd.

Elsewhere, Belgium and reigning world champions France are the first ever joint leaders, while Burkina Faso, like Ghana, moved down 17 points.
