Edin Dzeko admitted he was flattered by Chelsea's interest in an interview with Bosnian site Klix, but said he's happy he stayed at Roma.
The Bosnia international was heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, before the club decided to sign Olivier Giroud from Arsenal.
"It's true there were talks with Chelsea, and this is all I can say on the subject," Dzeko said. "There were also a number of lies, speculation and some frankly ridiculous statements.
"I am genuinely flattered by Chelsea's interest. It's a club I really respect, and hold in great esteem."
"In the last few weeks so many things were said about my leaving Rome, but the truth is that I'm still here. I'm happy I've stayed, because Rome has become my home and an indelible part of my life, in an almost unreal way.
"I have spent some of the happiest moments of my life in this city. I became a father for the first time here, with the birth of my daughter Una, and my son Dani was also born here. This city is part of my life now, and will always be."
Dzeko also touched on the difficult moment experienced by the Giallorossi right now, after a run of seven games without a win in all competitions. He said: "We haven't won in a long time and this is frustrating, but I'm convinced it's just a question of finding the winning rhythm again so that we can get out of this negative streak.
"With faith in the future and shared strength, I'm sure we can reach our objectives for this season. Roma is my family and I'm delighted I'm still wearing the shirt."
