Arsenal, Chelsea keeping tabs on RB Leipzig keeper Peter Gulacsi - sources

Arsenal and Chelsea are tracking RB Leipzig goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi, sources close to the Bundesliga club have told ESPN FC.

Scouts from the two Premier League clubs watched former Liverpool keeper Gulacsi in action during Leipzig's 2-0 defeat to German champions Bayern Munich on Saturday.

Arsenal have begun the process of identifying new goalkeeping targets as they search for a long-term replacement for current No. 1 Petr Cech.

Cech, 35, is in the final 18 months of his contract at Arsenal after joining the club from Chelsea in the summer of 2015, and the Gunners are aware they need to have a plan in place for his successor.

Chelsea are also considering their goalkeeping options with Thibaut Courtois yet to sign a new deal at Stamford Bridge amid reported interest from Real Madrid.

The two clubs are expected to continue to monitor Gulacsi and the fact that he qualifies as a homegrown player following his five-year spell at Liverpool makes him a more attractive proposition.

The Hungary international has been in impressive form for Leipzig so far this season, conceding just 11 goals in nine Bundesliga games and also starting all three of the club's Champions League matches to date.

The 27-year-old is currently top of German magazine kicker's Bundesliga rankings for goalkeepers.
