Claudio Bravo: Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez upset as Man City move failed

MANCHESTER -- Claudio Bravo has said Chile colleague Alexis Sanchez "went from happiness to bitterness" when his deadline day move from Arsenal to Manchester City collapsed.

Bravo and Sanchez had been preparing for a World Cup qualifier against Paraguay in Santiago when Arsenal accepted a £60 million City offer for the forward.

But the deal fell through when the Gunners failed to find a replacement, although Bravo stressed that he hoped Sanchez would join him at the Etihad Stadium in the future.

"He went from happiness to bitterness in a few hours, although it's all in the past now," the goalkeeper told reporters after City's 5-0 win over Liverpool on Saturday.

"The transfer didn't happen because a player didn't go to Arsenal and everything collapsed.

"We would have loved to have him here, but the market gives you these time limits and the rush is not good.

"This time it was not possible, but hopefully we will have him here in the future."

Bravo played his first minutes of the season on Saturday after coming on as a 46th minute substitute for Ederson Moraes.

Ederson left the pitch on a stretcher after a high challenge from Liverpool's Saido Mane, who was shown a straight red card.

City hope Ederson has not suffered a serious injury, but Pep Guardiola said he may miss Wednesday's Champions League game at Feyenoord with Bravo set to step in.

"You go from being on the bench watching the game and within seconds you are out there playing. Us goalkeepers know this can happen but you never expect it," Bravo said.

"These things are avoidable -- you can easily avoid putting your foot in somebody's face so you don't do them damage."

Ederson has started the season as first choice and Bravo said the two keepers were enjoying their battle to be a regular starter.

"I'm calm, all of us here are completely ready and we have a competitive mentality," he added. "We are all very happy for the win.

"I wouldn't have wanted to play for a reason like this, an injury to a teammate, but you always have to be prepared."
