Ki Sung-yueng feels his South Korean teammate Son Heung-min's goal-scoring exploits at Tottenham should be grabbing more headlines in England. Harry Kane and Dele Alli may command the majority of the attention at Spurs but Son's influence cannot be understated given he has netted 39 times over the past two seasons. Seven of those have come in his last five appearances so Son is beginning to gain more recognition in England. However, that pales in comparison with the treatment the forward receives in his native South Korea, where ex-K League winger Niall McGinn this week revealed Son's superstar status means half-time television pundits of Tottenham games focus on his performance rather than the match itself. Swansea midfielder Ki, who is in Belfast with Son ahead of South Korea's friendly with Northern Ireland on Saturday, has marvelled at his 25-year-old international colleague's club performances and believes he warrants greater appreciation. "Of course his performances of this season have been amazing,'' South Korea captain Ki said. "Everyone knows he is very consistent in every game and he scores many goals for Spurs, which is not easy. "From last season until now he has shown his quality as a top-class player in the Premier League. I don't say this because he is Asian but I think he must get more credit. "He has to be in more of the top stories in newspapers. He scores very important goals for Spurs and the consistency is not easy for every player. "Sometimes you get injured, sometimes you get tired if you play for his kind of team, but he keeps scoring goals and maintaining his performances, even for the national team. "In my opinion he of course has to get more credit. I'm not saying that Harry Kane and Dele Alli are worse than Son. They are all top players but I think Son has to get more credit in my opinion.''
