AJAX CAPE TOWN
Ajax will be hoping that new coach Muhsin Ertugral can work his magic again, fourth time round, to see them clear of the relegation zone.
This could be his toughest job yet ...
AMAZULU
AmaZulu will be hoping to eke out a few more goals from their 'Golden Oldies', 40-year-old forward Siyabonga Nomvete and his 'baby' fellow striker, 35-year-old Mabhuti Khenyeza.
Doing so could be the different of being in a relegation scrap or not.
BAROKA FC
Naturally, Baroka FC will be hoping their prayers/dreams/wishes come true and they win the league. The club might be a little inconsistent on the pitch, but off it, from the chairman to the coach and the players, they have not wavered in their belief that this will be their year ...
BIDVEST WITS
A league victory. Just start there and see where it takes them.
The champions have won just two of their 14 matches to date and sit rock-bottom of the league.
BLOEMFONTEIN CELTIC
Celtic will be hoping that the honeymoon under new coach Veselin Jelusic carries on well in to the New Year to help them secure a top-eight place.
CAPE TOWN CITY
City will be hoping for some love from the referees, not special treatment, but just the equal share of the fair calls. In victory or defeat this season, it has been a constant theme.
Oh, and they would also like the City of Cape Town to pass their plans to develop a new stadium at Hartleyvale!
CHIPPA UNITED
If Chippa had any New Years resolution, it would surely be to pick up more wins on the road. Just one away success in their last 21 games in all competitions is a damning indictment on the club.
That single success came at Wits in early November, with a previous victory some 15 months ago at Baroka FC.
FREE STATE STARS
Stars will hope coach Luc Eymael will not do one of his disappearing acts and stay on at the club for the foreseeable future. The Belgian has got them firing and has been excellent for the team, but he has a habit of seeking pastures new with some regularity.
KAIZER CHIEFS
A trophy, not the Macufe Cup or the Carling Black Label Champions Cup, but a proper piece of silverware.
The club is now on their longest round without success in their illustrious 48-year history. The league looks gone, but the Nedbank Cup offers a last piece of salvation.
LAMONTVILLE GOLDEN ARROWS
Golden Arrows will be hoping to turn draws into wins!
Nine of their 15 league games this season have ended in stalemates, comfortably the most of any team. It leaves them with a glass half full, they are not losing games, but they are not winning them either.
MAMELODI SUNDOWNS
Sundowns will be hoping secure new forward recruits and hit the ground running with a busy second half of the season and another shot at African glory in the Champions League to come.
Having sold Leonardo Castro to Chiefs and Khama Billiat also most likely headed for the exit, they could be left a little thin.
The club has reportedly been in transfer talks with Bolivian forward Gilbert Alvarez, Uruguayan striker Gaston Sirino, and if media reports are to be believed, New Zealander Jeremy Brockie could be available at the right price from SuperSport United.
They do only have one 'foreigner' space open at present though.
MARITZBURG UNITED
Goals, no question about it. United have good forward options, but have failed to find the back of the net in 11 of their 18 matches in all competitions this season.
ORLANDO PIRATES
Their desires are similar to Soweto rivals Kaizer Chiefs, with no trophy for Pirates in almost four years since they won the Nedbank Cup in 2014. Coach Micho Sredojevic has got them more organised, but there is still a lack of a cutting edge at times.
PLATINUM STARS
Stars will be hoping their ownership situation is sorted out sooner rather than later so the club can move forward with a clear path. Stars have reportedly been sold, with new owners to take the helm in January, but there has been no official word on this and even coach Roger de Sa appears in the dark.
POLOKWANE CITY
City will wish for striker Rodney Ramagalela to keep his scoring form as they have been incredibly reliant on him in this season to date. Eight of their league 14 goals have been scored by the big striker, with only four other players finding the back of the net this campaign.
SUPERSPORT UNITED
SuperSport will be hoping to somehow keep hold of star striker Brockie, though they may have already admitted defeat. The New Zealander handed in a transfer request in the last window that was rejected, and as their league title hopes diminish, it could be time for the Tshwane side to cash in.
