Manchester United's Matteo Darmian, Marcos Rojo will decide their own futures - sources

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is prepared to let Matteo Darmian and Marcos Rojo decide where they want to play this season but has told the pair he would like them to stay at Old Trafford, sources have told ESPN FC.

Darmian has been linked with moves to Juventus, Napoli and Inter Milan and admitted during the summer tour of the U.S. that he is keen on a return to Italy. Rojo, meanwhile, is of interest to Fenerbahce, who would like to take the Argentina centre-back on loan.

Sources have told ESPN FC that Mourinho would like to keep the two defenders until at least January. Darmian started the 2-1 win over Leicester on Friday because of injuries to right-backs Antonio Valencia and new signing Diogo Dalot, while Rojo is needed as cover at centre-back after United failed to bring in another central defender on deadline day.

However, Mourinho accepts that both Darmian and Rojo may find first-team opportunities limited when he has a fully fit squad and is ready to let them make the final decision about their futures. Serie A sides can sign players until Aug.ust 17 while deadline day in Turkey is scheduled for Aug. 31.

Meanwhile, striker James Wilson is hoping to put himself "in the shop window" during his loan spell at Aberdeen. The 22-year-old will spend the season with the Scottish Premiership side and is hoping a run of form north of the border will help secure a permanent move away from Old Trafford next summer.

"I want as many minutes as possible and as many goals as possible," the former England Under-21 international .

"I am in my final year at Man United and I'm looking to put myself in the shop window. But obviously short term I want to help the team do well.

"I've not [spoken to Jose Mourinho] directly but obviously he doesn't see me in his plans for this year so the right move was to come on loan and Aberdeen was the right place."
