Cristiano Ronaldo arrival at Juventus motivates Napoli - Carlo Ancelotti

Napoli coach Carlo Ancelotti has said Cristiano Ronaldo's arrival at Juventus reinforces his club's determination to beat them to the Serie A title next season.

Ancelotti, who coached the Portugal forward to his second Champions League title at Real Madrid in 2014, also believes Italian football in general will benefit from his arrival.

"He's the best in the world, and I know his professionalism and his strength -- Italian football is going to reap great rewards from his arrival, although principally it is an advantage to Juve," Ancelotti told a news conference on Wednesday.

"For us, it's an even greater motivation to finish ahead of the Bianconeri."

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis, meanwhile, applauded Juve's signing, welcoming Ronaldo with a tweet in which he said he would "bring more salt and pepper" to the league.

Ancelotti took over from Maurizio Sarri after he had taken the club closer to the title than at any time since 1990, and the former Bayern Munich boss said he wanted to go one step further.

"We're here to win," he said. "I've been really convinced by the spirit of this squad. There were many reasons why I accepted the offer to come here. The club believed in my ability and I had a great desire to return to Italy.

"I've found an interesting project, a club who want to grow and improve, and this is a side I like, who had an interesting style of play which was already close to my own ideas. This pushed me to accept the offer with enthusiasm.

"We want to do as well as we can in all competitions."
