Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio has said his club have "always liked" Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Javier Pastore, but the chances of Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge joining appear slim.
Speaking ahead of the 1-1 draw with SPAL on Sunday -- a result that extended Inter's winless streak to seven games -- Ausilio told Mediaset Pastore was a target.
"We're pleased that a champion like him sees Inter as a positive opportunity," Ausilio said.
"We've always liked Pastore, but there is always a huge gulf between saying and doing. There's [the obstacle of] PSG, who own his registration, and then there are us, who are also making evaluations.
"When you pick a player, you do so thinking that he can improve your squad.
"But when you are at Inter, you've got to earn your place and coming here doesn't mean you have any certainty about playing -- you just have the certainty of being part of a project.
"Lisandro Lopez and Rafinha have joined Inter [this winter] and we'll sit down with [coach Luciano] Spalletti and, if there are any other opportunities, we will try to take them."
However, Ausilio said Liverpool forward Sturridge was less likely to join.
"I don't feel ready to strike his name off the list, but we feel we have enough suitable players ahead of him to reach our objectives," he added.
Ausilio also said he did not think Marcelo Brozovic, who has been linked with Everton, would leave this week.
