Watford in talks over £2.9 million move for IFK Goteborg's Pontus Dahlberg

Watford are in talks to sign IFK Goteborg goalkeeper Pontus Dahlberg, sources close to the Hornets have told ESPN FC.

Scouts from a number of Europe's top clubs have been alerted to Dahlberg's potential with Arsenal, Tottenham, Everton, Napoli and RB Leipzig all monitoring his progress.

Watford are keen to steal a march on their rivals for the 18-year-old's signature by setting up a deal for when the transfer window reopens next month.

Marco Silva's side are in advanced talks with Goteborg over a transfer in the region of £2.9 million for Dahlberg.

The keeper was at Watford's training ground on Tuesday for talks and to have a look around the club's facilities as the Hornets look to convince him to make the move to Vicarage Road.

Dahlberg is already established as a key first-team member at Goteborg and has made 29 appearances for the club this season.

The teenager started his career at Alvangens IK in 2013 before earning a move to Goteborg in 2015, while he has represented Sweden at all youth levels up to the under-21s.
