Bayern Munich and Hoffenheim have confirmed talks over a January transfer of Germany international Sandro Wagner. Wagner's career could come full circle this winter should he join Bayern, his first team in professional football, in the upcoming transfer window. Last week, Hoffenheim coach Julian Nagelsmann confirmed reports about a possible switch, and negotiations between the two clubs have already started. "We held very good talks," Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic told reporters. "Of course, it will also be about the transfer fee. We are relaxed, have no pressure, but have time." Hoffenheim sporting director Alexander Rosen also confirmed talks, adding: "Bayern have lodged their interest, and the player also wants a move. He played a very important role for us in the past 18 months, and also thanks to him we qualified for Europe." Wagner is under contract at Hoffenheim, the club he joined from Darmstadt in 2016, until 2020, and it has been reported that he could be allowed to leave for a transfer exceeding €10 million. Wagner is not the only Hoffenheim attacker linked with leaving the club. Mark Uth, who scored the last-minute equaliser in the 1-1 draw with Frankfurt at the weekend, has entered the final few months of his current deal, while winger Serge Gnabry is on a one-year loan from Bayern. However, Rosen did not rule out the possibility of the trio still being at Hoffenheim following the 2018 World Cup. "Maybe all three will stay," he said. "Maybe we extend the [Gnabry] loan, Uth stays and Wagner too."
