Borussia Dortmund have no plans to sell Christian Pulisic at the end of the season, sporting director Michael Zorc says.

Zorc was reacting to a column last week by former Germany star Lothar Matthaus, who named the 19-year-old U.S. international as a fitting replacement for Bayern Munich's veteran wingers Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery.

But asked about Matthaus' suggestion, Zorc told Reviersport: "Those experts are being paid to talk a lot. Sometimes they talk sense, sometimes less so. I don't care much about that. I prefer to stick to the facts. And thus I see Christian with us in the long-term."

He added: "We plan ahead with Christian Pulisic. And when I say ahead, I mean beyond this summer. He has a long-term contract and feels at home in Dortmund."

In January, Pulisic extended his deal with Dortmund until the summer of 2020 and said this summer: "I couldn't go to Bayern. Usually, you can't say something like that, but no."

Matthaus had first encouraged the German champions to go after Pulisic after the American's superb performance in a 3-1 defeat to Bayern two weeks ago.

He then wrote last week: "Christian Pulisic is a player that I can imagine very well at the German record champions. [He is] young, can play on both wings, and [is] economically feasible. A complete package."

Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic then said he would consider Matthaus' ideas when signing players in the future.

Earlier this week, Pulisic admitted he has "been feeling pretty depressed this past month" since the United States failed to qualify for the World Cup, which coincided with Dortmund's recent fall off the top of the Bundesliga table.

"For a guy obsessed with winning, lately I've been doing a lot of losing," he wrote for The Players' Tribune. "But I just want you to know -- I'm still obsessed, all the same."
