Inter Milan keen to sign Arsenal's Shkodran Mustafi - sources

Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi is being lined up for a move to Inter Milan, sources have told ESPN FC.

Mustafi was named on the substitutes' bench for Arsenal's Premier League game at Liverpool on Sunday.

The Germany international only joined Arsenal last summer from Valencia, but Arsene Wenger is willing to let him move on as he looks at ways to trim his squad.

Despite the sale of Gabriel Paulista to Valencia already this month, Wenger feels he has enough cover in defence to sanction Mustafi's departure following the return to fitness of Per Mertesacker and the emergence of Rob Holding.

Inter would like to take Mustafi on loan with a view to a permanent deal, while Arsenal would prefer to recoup the £35m they paid for the defender when they signed him from Valencia.
