Monaco's Kylian Mbappe could become a key man for PSG - Thiago Silva

Kylian Mbappe would be a "very significant" player for Paris Saint-Germain if he joins from Monaco, Thiago Silva has told Canal+.

Mbappe, 18, was an unused substitute for Monaco's win at Dijon on Sunday, fuelling speculation that he will leave the French champions.

Last week, sources told ESPN FC Mbappe was keen on a move but said no agreement had been reached and one may not come this summer.

Silva, 32, is confident Mbappe, who was born and grew up in the Paris region, would be an ideal player to team up with Neymar, Angel Di Maria and Edinson Cavani.

"He always wants to score, he has a great quality of dribble, and I think PSG is a team that loves that kind of player," the Brazil international said.

"He could become a very important and very significant player for the squad. I see on TV that he has his head on his shoulders."

Having started Monaco's season opener nine days earlier, Mbappe was left on the bench at Dijon.

Coach Leonardo Jardim told his postmatch press conference: "It's a decision of the club for him not to start the match.

"When I say it's a decision of the club, it's all of those who decide at the club.

"After that, the game went well, and I gave other players a chance in order to facilitate the construction of our team. You have to give rhythm to those who don't play so often."
