Crystal Palace to make second offer for Arsenal's Calum Chambers - sources

Crystal Palace are planning a new bid for Arsenal defender Calum Chambers, sources close to the Gunners have told ESPN FC.

Palace have identified Chambers as one of their top targets this summer as they look to strengthen their defensive options but saw their opening offer of £16 million rejected by Arsenal, who value the player at close to £20m.

Palace remain interested in Chambers -- along with a number of other sides -- and although the two clubs are apart in their current valuations, the Eagles are expected to make an improved offer for the England under-21 international.

Arsenal are ready to sell Chambers, who was signed from Southampton for £16m in 2014, as he has fallen down the pecking order in Arsene Wenger's plans.

The 22-year-old made 36 appearances for Arsenal in his first season but started just two Premier League games in his second campaign, before being sent on loan to Middlesbrough last term, where he caught the eye despite their relegation from the top flight.
