Michael Keane set for Monday medical ahead of Everton move - sources

Everton are on the verge of signing Burnley defender Michael Keane with the player due for a medical on Merseyside on Monday, sources have told ESPN FC.

As reported by ESPN FC last week, Everton were closing in on the signing of England international Keane as they look to bolster their defensive options.

Everton have been in talks with Burnley for several weeks over a deal for Keane and they have agreed a fee in the region of £25 million for the centre-back.

Burnley have been resigned to losing Keane with the player entering the final of his contract at Turf Moor and a number of top clubs chasing his signature after an impressive campaign for club and country last season.

Everton boss Ronald Koeman had made Keane one of his top targets this summer and sees the defender as the perfect central defensive partner for Ashley Williams.

Everton report back for preseason training on Monday and Keane is expected to be at the club's training ground Finch Farm for talks and a medical.

If Keane seals his move to Goodison Park he will become the club's fourth signing of the summer following the arrivals of Jordan Pickford from Sunderland, Davy Klaassen from Ajax and Henry Onyekuru from Eupen, although the Nigerian will spend next season on loan at Anderlecht.
