Everton closing in on Burnley defender Michael Keane - sources

Everton are closing in on the signing of Michael Keane, sources have told ESPN FC, with Burnley holding out for a £25 million fee.

Keane's future has been the subject of speculation all summer after impressing in the Premier League last season, and with only one year left on his contract Burnley have been braced for interest.

Manchester United were keen on re-signing the England international after initially selling him to Burnley in 2015, but they are no longer looking for defensive reinforcements after signing Victor Lindelof from Benfica.

Everton boss Ronald Koeman has made Keane one of his top targets this summer and he sees the defender as the perfect central defensive partner for Ashley Williams.

Everton have been busy in the transfer market so far this summer bringing in Jordan Pickford for £30m from Sunderland and Netherlands international Davy Klaassen from Ajax for £27m and they are confident of making Keane their latest big-money recruit.
