West Brom close to £12m deal to sign Jay Rodriguez - sources

West Bromwich Albion are closing in on the signing of Southampton striker Jay Rodriguez, sources close to the player have told ESPN FC.

West Brom boss Tony Pulis is a big admirer of Rodriguez and, with talks now at an advanced stage over a £12 million deal, the club are hopeful of completing the move before they fly out to Austria next week for a preseason training camp.

New Southampton manager Mauricio Pellegrino is ready to let Rodriguez move on so that he can boost the funds he has available to bring in his own players this summer.

Rodriguez has endured a difficult last couple of seasons at Southampton after finding his progress interrupted by injuries. The 27-year-old missed the 2014-15 season with ruptured knee ligaments and started only three Premier League games the following season upon his return to fitness.

In total Rodriguez has made 125 appearances in five seasons for Southampton, scoring 35 goals since his arrival from Burnley in 2012.
