Ex-Barcelona, Man United keeper Victor Valdes to leave Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough have announced that goalkeeper Victor Valdes will leave the club when his contract expires at the end of June.

Former Barcelona and Manchester United shot-stopper Valdes joined Boro on a free transfer last summer.

The 35-year-old made 28 Premier League appearances for the club but was unable to prevent their relegation to the Championship.

Valdes' contract at the Riverside will be terminated by mutual consent, while fellow keeper Brad Guzan is also departing as he heads for MLS side Atlanta United.
