Antoine Griezmann: No reason to leave Atletico even if Diego Simeone goes

Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann has said he has "no reason to leave" but wants to see what signings the club are able to make in the summer.

Reports in England have suggested Manchester United could bid €100 million for him in the summer, and his adviser has said Real Madrid, Manchester City, Chelsea and Barcelona had all made enquiries.

Speaking to "El Larguero" radio show, Griezmann said: "I really like it here. Now Miguel Angel [chief executive Miguel Angel Gil Marin] must speak with my agent.

"I do not make plans for tomorrow. I remain at Atletico because I am happy, just the same as the day I joined. I want trophies, to win things -- that is why I came here."

Speaking after the Champions League exit to neighbours Real Madrid, Atleti coach Diego Simeone said: "It seems I will be the manager next season if everything goes right with the club."

Griezmann said he trusted what Simeone had said but stressed that his own future was not tied to that of the coach.

"Last year I rang him before signing the new contract, but if he goes now I have no reason to leave," he said.

He said Atletico's ambitions for next year would be defined by the club's activity in the transfer market, adding: "The objective is decided by the president and the signings he makes.

"Now we will see if he can fulfil that. What we have been doing with this squad is fantastic. We will continue here while we can."

Atleti have been linked with a move for Paris Saint-Germain star Edinson Cavani and Griezmann said he was "a big fan," also praising Lyon's Alexandre Lacazette.

"I know Cavani will give everything for every ball," he added. "He would be a top signing.

"I am not going to be objective talking about Lacazette as he is a very good friend of mine. I loved playing with him [for France]. He is a bit like Luciano Vietto but maybe scores more goals."

NBA fan Griezmann also joked that the only way he would move clubs would be to join the New York Knicks, saying: "Cristiano is LeBron James and [Lionel] Messi is [Steph] Curry.

"I would only leave Atletico to play with Derrick Rose."
