Real Madrid reach deal for Zaragoza defender Jesus Vallejo

Real Madrid have reached an agreement for Real Zaragoza and Spain under-19 centre-back Jesus Vallejo, both clubs confirmed on Friday.

The 18-year-old, who this summer captained Spain to victory in the UEFA Under-19 Championship, will sign a long-term contract with Madrid but will remain on loan with Segunda Division Zaragoza for the 2015-16 season.

A Madrid statement read: "Real Madrid and Real Zaragoza have reached an agreement on the transfer of Jesus Vallejo, who will sign with the club for six seasons. Vallejo will remain at Real Zaragoza on loan for the coming season."

The deal is reported to be between €4.5 and €5 million, according to Spanish media.

Vallejo made 34 league appearances for Real Zaragoza in the Segunda Division last season.

The defender was linked to Serie A side Udinese in recent months while Valencia, Barcelona and Villarreal were also reportedly interested in signing the Zaragoza-born player.

Real Madrid coach Benitez already has four established first-team defenders in Sergio Ramos, Pepe, Raphael Varane and academy player Nacho Fernandez.

Zaragoza announced in a statement of their own that Madrid had also reached an agreement to sign their Spain under-16 goalkeeper Dario Ramos.
