Chivas goalkeeper Raul Gudino's save preserves draw against rivals America

Chivas goalkeeper Raul Gudino saved a stoppage-time penalty shot from Club America striker Mateus Uribe to preserve a 1-1 draw in Liga MX's Clasico Nacional on Sunday.

The country's most successful clubs at 12 league titles apiece, both sides played an exciting, high-pressing affair at Mexico City's vaunted Estadio Azteca worthy of the historic rivalry.

The Aguilas had a golden opportunity to grab three points when Henry Martin drew a foul in the 94th minute after Gudino made contact with the America defender in the box.

Gudino redeemed himself with a clutch save on Uribe's take, only to see the referee call full-time seconds after.

Andres Ibarguen's strike in the 81st minute gave America their goal after Chivas striker Alan Pulido initally grabbed the lead with right-footed shot in the 59th minute. It is Pulido's third consecutive game with a goal and his first three-match scoring streak since 2014.

America remain in second place with 21 points in the Apertura tournament standings, ahead of Santos Laguna on goal difference and two points behind leaders Cruz Azul. Chivas are in ninth place, behind Pachuca on goal difference for the eighth and final playoff spot.
