Liverpool rout Napoli as Alisson keeps clean sheet in debut

DUBLIN -- Alisson kept a clean sheet on his Liverpool debut as Jurgen Klopp's side thrashed Napoli 5-0 in on Saturday evening.

Goalkeeper Alisson made his first appearance for the Reds following his £65 million move from Roma last month, playing the entire game at the Aviva Stadium.

James Milner and Georginio Wijnaldum netted early goals for Liverpool before Mohamed Salah, Daniel Sturridge and Alberto Moreno added to the scoreline after half-time.

Liverpool flew direct from their training camp in Evian on Saturday morning for the game and went ahead in the fourth minute.

It was an attack that began with Alisson's perfectly-placed long ball into the path of Salah. Sadio Mane then set up Milner, who fired beyond Orestis Karnezis in the Napoli goal.

Milner then turned provider four minutes later as his cross from a short corner was nodded in by Wijnaldum.

Liverpool made one change at the break with Roberto Firmino making way for Xherdan Shaqiri, while Milner was forced off 10 minutes into the second half after a clash of heads with Mario Rui.

In the 58th minute, the Reds went 3-0 up when Salah curled one into the top corner before he was substituted moments later as part of a number of alterations.

Sturridge was one of those players introduced and he netted Liverpool's fourth after pouncing on the rebound of Divock Origi's shot that had been saved by Karnezis. Moreno completed the rout 12 minutes from time, smashing in from a tight angle.

Liverpool conclude their preseason on Tuesday when they host Torino at Anfield ahead of their Premier League opener with West Ham United on Aug 12.
