New York Red Bulls' win over Atlanta United marred by Kemar Lawrence injury

Red Bulls defender Kemar Lawrence is fine, according to the club, after he was taken off the field in a cart on Sunday after being injured in New York's 3-1 victory over Atlanta United.

The Red Bulls confirmed on Sunday night that Lawrence was "conscious, fully responsive and in good spirits."

Lawrence spent the night in the hospital on Sunday so that doctors could monitor his status, with the team tweeting out on Monday that he was fine and that all tests had come back negative before he travelled home with a team trainer.

The game was stopped in the 72nd minute when Lawrence slid to hit a ball and went down.

Lawrence stayed facedown, not moving, for several minutes and was eventually put into a neck brace and carted off. He raised his hand, taking Marsch's hand as he was being wheeled off.

Bradley-Wright Phillips' two second-half goals were enough to bag NYRB the victory. New York has won four in a row, out-scoring its opponents 12-4 during that span.

Wright-Phillips headed home Michael Murillo's cross to the center of the box to give the Red Bulls a 2-1 lead in the 51st minute. About four minutes later, Wright-Phillips capped the scoring with a header, off an entry from Alejandro Romero Gamarra, that banged in off the crossbar.

Atlanta's Ezequiel Barco put away a deflected through pass from Miguel Almiron to open the scoring in the 26th minute.

Daniel Royer converted from the spot in the 42nd to make it 1-1 after Wright-Phillips drew a foul in the area conceded by Miles Robinson.

Atlanta lost for just the second time since opening day.

Wright-Phillips has eight goals this season, tied with Almiron and Columbus' Gyasi Zardes for the most in MLS. Atlanta's Greg Garza was shown a straight red card in the 71st minute for a serious foul.
