Bayern Munich see off PSG, who hang on to win Group B
Bayern Munich got a little payback against Paris Saint-Germain with a 3-1 win at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday night in Group B.
Seeking to avenge the 3-0 humiliation earlier in the group stage at the hands of PSG that cost Carlo Ancelotti his job, Bayern wasted no time hitting their opener. Robert Lewandowski buried a headed Kingsley Coman pass past Alphonse Areola to give the Bundesliga champions a 1-0 lead.
And right before half-time, Bayern would go two up when Corentin Tolisso smashed a header past Areola from a perfectly curled James Rodriguez cross from the left flank.
Knowing a 4-0 loss to Bayern would cost them top spot in the group, Unai Emery's team scored an important goal to open the second half as Edinson Cavani scooped a pass in the penalty area for Kylian Mbappe to head home to make it 2-1 in favour of the Germans.
Tolisso then bagged his brace right before 70 minutes on a swift-hitting counter-attack from Bayern Munich, firing a first-time shot from a Coman assist in to restore their two-goal lead.
Both teams had already qualified for the round of 16 as PSG held on to the top spot to leave Bayern second.
