Lazio laboured to a 2-0 home win against relegation-threatened Verona on Monday night to revive their Champions League qualification hopes. Talisman Ciro Immobile scored both goals early in the second half as the Biancocelesti got their top-four challenge back on track following three successive Serie A defeats. The hosts were frustrated during a first half which saw Immobile, Wallace, and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic all fail to make the most of decent chances. Luis Alberto went close to scoring when his right-foot shot from outside the penalty area struck the crossbar. Immobile turned in a cross from Luis Alberto to make the breakthrough after 55 minutes and then headed a second goal on the hour to take his tally for the campaign to 28 in all competitions. Simone Calvano went close with a long-range effort late on for Verona, who remain second-bottom of the table and five points from safety after a seventh defeat in eight league matches.
