Clarence Seedorf suffers losing start to Deportivo La Coruna reign

Clarence Seedorf's first game in charge of Deportivo La Coruna ended in a 1-0 La Liga home defeat to Real Betis.

This latest setback extended Deportivo's winless run to eight games and Seedorf's side remain one place off the bottom.

Loren Moron was again the Betis hero after scoring twice on his debut in last weekend's 2-1 victory against Villarreal.

Junior Firpo broke down the left after 54 minutes and Loren beat Deportivo goalkeeper Ruben to the debutant's cross and applied the decisive touch.

Zakaria Bakkali had earlier clipped the outside of a post as Deportivo attempted to get Seedorf's reign off to a fast start.

But Betis had the better openings as the game wore on with Marc Bartra firing wide and Ryad Boudebouz twice shooting straight at Ruben.

Deportivo almost claimed a point when Florin Andone struck the woodwork 20 minutes from time, but the Galicians remain three points from safety as Betis move up to eighth.
