Eintracht Frankfurt beat Gladbach to move second in Bundesliga

Eintracht Frankfurt earned a long-awaited home win as a 2-0 victory over Borussia Monchengladbach saw them climb up to second in the Bundesliga.

Just like in the reverse fixture in September, Kevin Boateng scored for the Eagles. Luka Jovic struck in injury time to seal a first win for Eintracht at Waldstadion since the start of November.

Marius Wolf and Timothy Chandler had threatened for the hosts before Boateng slid the ball home from close range two minutes shy of half-time.

Lukas Hradecky produced a fine save early in the second half to deny Mickael Cuisance and preserve Eintracht's lead and a Patrick Herrmann effort clipped the top of the crossbar as the visitors came closer to an equalising goal.

Thorgan Hazard spurned their best chance to get something from the game when he crashed a penalty against the crossbar with 12 minutes remaining.

Jovic's goal put the result beyond doubt as Niko Kovac's team leapfrogged their opponents and moved from seventh to second in the standings.
