Tottenham strike from distance to defeat 10-man PSG

Christian Eriksen and Toby Alderweireld scored a pair of long-range screamers to help Tottenham Hotspur to a 4-2 win over 10-man Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday.

Edinson Cavani gave PSG an early lead that was quickly overturned by Eriksen and Eric Dier, though Javier Pastore soon brought the International Champions Cup game level again at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando.

PSG goalkeeper Kevin Trapp was sent off in the first minute of the second half for handling the ball outside his box, but Spurs were frustrated until Alderweireld struck in the 82nd minute, and Harry Kane added a late penalty.

In the sixth minute, Adrien Rabiot took advantage of an error from Spurs' U.S. international defender Cameron Carter-Vickers at the centre line to run in on goal, before passing across for Cavani to tap in.

Eriksen netted a spectacular equaliser for Spurs five minutes later, lining up his shot from 35 yards and tucking it in off the crossbar.

Tottenham's second goal was far less impressive, as Trapp played a poor ball out of the back and got a pass back to him, and his second attempted clearance went off Dier and into the net.

Pastore made it 2-2 in the 36th minute, taking a fine diagonal pass from Rabiot and dancing around Carter-Vickers in the box before scoring.

But Trapp's nightmare continued as he misplayed a long Spurs pass out of the back and handled the ball in front of the 18-yard box, earning a rare straight red card in a summer friendly.

His replacement Alphonse Areola fared much better, keeping Spurs out until Alderweireld struck from 25 yards to put the London club ahead once more.

Four minutes later, Blaise Matuidi was whistled for handling the ball -- this time inside the box -- and Kane emphatically blasted home the penalty for the final margin.

Tottenham continue their ICC slate against Roma and Manchester City next week, while PSG meet Juventus before facing Monaco in the French Super Cup in Morocco next Saturday.
