TORONTO -- Ignacio Piatti and Anthony Jackson-Hamel each scored twice as the Montreal Impact cooled off Toronto FC with a wild 5-3 victory on Wednesday night. Marco Donadel also scored for Montreal, which had lost four straight. A 3-2 loss to Minnesota on a late goal last weekend prompted owner Joey Saputo to issue a statement to fans, asking for patience during an "extremely trying" season. MLS-leading Toronto was trying for its seventh straight win. Other than the MLS Cup final, which Toronto lost in a penalty shootout last December, it had not lost a regular-season or playoff game at home since Oct, 1, 2016. Montreal went ahead in the 10th minute when goalkeeper Alex Bono, trying to clear a back pass, struck the ball right into Piatti, and the ball caromed into the net. The Impact doubled their lead two minutes later as Donadel blasted home from 30 yards. Piatti curled in a shot from the left to make it 3-0 midway through the first half, though Toronto got one back when Steven Beitashour's cross deflected off Deian Boldor and in. Two minutes into the second half, Montreal had its fourth as Jackson-Hamel picked off a loose back pass, and he added another goal four minutes later on the counter-attack. Toronto striker Tosaint Ricketts scored from a pair of headers in the 77th and 79th minutes, but the Impact held on from there. Toronto was playing without star players Sebastian Giovinco, Jozy Altidore and Victor Vazquez.
