Cambridge avoid FA Cup upset by beating Dover after extra time

Cambridge relied on three goals in extra time to secure a dramatic 4-2 win at Dover which has set up an FA Cup second-round tie against Coventry.Leon Legge, Medy Elito and Ben Williamson all scored for Cambridge in extra time to break Dover hearts after the non-league club had twice led on the night.Cambridge started in assured fashion and could have been ahead in the 19th minute when Luke Berry fired a low shot against the post before Richard Orlu cleared off the line.Fine work down the right from Pietro Mingoia carved out another Cambridge chance six minutes before the break, but Elito shot straight at Mitch Walker.Cambridge could easily have gone in behind though when Dover's Ross Lafayette planted a free header from eight yards out inches wide.Dover improved after the break and thought they had found a winner when top goalscorer Ricky Miller latched onto a fine lofted ball by Chris Kinnear, who coolly found the bottom corner with his left instep on 70 minutes.Cambridge piled on the pressure in search of an equaliser late on and hit the woodwork through Elito and a Mark Roberts header.And they eventually stole an equaliser in stoppage time when Roberts scrambled home a rebound after Walker had parried Berry's free-kick.Dover scored a stunning effort 12 minutes into extra time when Aswad Thomas lashed home a left-footed volley from 25 yards to go ahead for a second time.Cambridge found a way back once again, however, when Legge smashed home from close range after a low cross from Roberts in the 111th minute.Sean Derry's men found the winner three minutes from time when Elito fired home at the back post, before Williamson wrapped up the game with a good solo effort late on.
