Carlos Bacca, Gianluca Lapadula on target as Milan beats Chievo Verona

Carlos Bacca scored twice and also missed a first-half penalty as AC Milan beat Chievo 3-1 at the San Siro on Saturday to move above rivals Inter into sixth place.

Chievo started the brighter but Milan took the lead against the run of play when Bacca ran on to Gerard Deulofeu's through ball, cut inside, and his effort was deflected in off Stefano Sorrentino's foot.

Chievo leveled four minutes later through a contentious penalty. Mattia De Sciglio was adjudged to have pulled down Serge Gakpe.

Milan were awarded a penalty of their own in first-half stoppage time for a Bostjan Cesar handball but Bacca blazed his spot kick over the bar.

The Colombian, though, was on target with 20 minutes left when he converted from close range following a flick-on from a corner before substitute Gianluca Lapadula wrapped up the points for Milan with a late penalty.
