Wissam Ben Yedder fires Sevilla to La Liga victory over Alaves

Wissam Ben Yedder's double strike guided Sevilla to a 2-1 victory over Alaves at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan stadium.

The 26-year-old, who signed from Ligue 1 club Toulouse in the summer, scored his first after 74 minutes when Paulo Henrique Ganso's brilliant backheel set up the French-born Tunisian striker to slot home.

Victor Laguardia equalised from a corner 10 minutes later before Ben Yedder -- with a backheel of his own -- scored his third goal in two games to help Sevilla remain unbeaten at home in LaLiga.

Alaves went close to silencing the home faithful after 11 minutes as Edgar Mendez's shot beat Sevilla goalkeeper Sergio Rico but only managed to hit the post. Luciano Vietto and Manchester City loanee Samir Nasri could have given the hosts the lead moments later as Jorge Sampaoli's men grew into the game.

But the hosts took the lead as Ganso adjusted his feet at the edge of the box before his slick backheel through-ball found Ben Yedder to slot past Pacheco in the Alaves goal.

Ben Yedder should have scored his second moments later as he found space in the six-yard box but could only send his effort wide.

Alaves looked to have snatched a point with six minutes to go as Aleksandar Pantic's header was initially blocked before Laguardia slid in at the back post to level.

But Sevilla clinched victory in stoppage time as Ben Yedder sneaked in at the near post to meet Vitolo's cross and expertly flick home.
