Monaco beat Lorient to go level on points atop Ligue 1

Monaco moved level on points with Ligue 1 leaders Nice after they secured a 3-0 win at Lorient.

Second-half goals from Radamel Falcao and Thomas Lemar, and a late Boschilia strike, secured back-to-back league wins for Leonardo Jardim's side.

Monaco wasted a chance inside the opening 60 seconds when Lemar and Bernardo Silva combined to pick out Valere Germain but his weak header failed to test Paul Delecroix.

Lorient responded in what was an entertaining start to the game but Benjamin Moukandjo saw his stinging effort turned away for a corner by Danijel Subasic.

The hosts continued to pile on the pressure with Steven Moreira and Sylvain Marveaux both just missing the target with efforts inside the opening 15 minutes.

After Ligue 1 debutant Delecroix did well to block Kylian Mbappe's effort the pulsating start to the game slowed as both sides went in level at the break.

Monaco came out positively in the second half as Lemar grazed the outside of the right post before Germain saw another effort end up just wide of the upright.

Then, just after the hour mark, the visitors got their reward with two quick-fire goals.

Firstly, a deflected Silva delivery fell kindly for Falcao who struck from just a few yards out before Lemar doubled Monaco's lead on 67 minutes.

The youngster sent a sublime free kick beyond Delecroix to cap off a successful few days having made his France debut earlier in the week.

At the death, Brazilian striker Boschilia made it 3-0 with a substitute's goal.
