Any outside hopes that Grimsby had of catching National League leaders Cheltenham appear to be over after a 2-1 defeat at Macclesfield.Jack Sampson and Reece Styche were on target for mid-table Macclesfield, scoring either side of Jon Nolan's equaliser for Grimsby.Grimsby goalkeeper James McKeown repelled a Chris Holroyd shot with his feet early on before preventing a Craig Clay own goal by pushing his header wide.Sampson steered home Danny Rowe's cross to open the scoring after 25 minutes before Rowe and Danny Whitaker went close to extending the lead before half-time.Grimsby regrouped at the break and Omar Bogle set up Nolan to level things up after 58 minutes. Macclesfield goalkeeper Shwan Jalal then produced a fine save to deny Craig Disley.Styche latched on to Holroyd's long pass to score his fourth goal of the Easter weekend to seal the three points.ends
