Three and easy for Doncaster at Southend

Doncaster started the new year with a resounding 3-0 win at Southend.
A drab opening first half came to life in the 44th minute when Andy Williams smashed home a left-footed shot from close range after Shrimpers centre-back Adam Thompson had failed to cut out a cross from Nathan Tyson.
Paul Keegan struck a post at the start of the second half for the visitors before Luke McCullough's header was cleared off the line by Southend midfielder Ryan Leonard.
But Doncaster stayed on top and made it 2-0 in the 54th minute when Conor Grant's corner was powerfully volleyed home by Aaron Taylor-Sinclair.
Rovers then completed the scoring just four minutes later when Tyson fired home a penalty after Thompson had brought down Williams following a calamitous error from Southend goalkeeper Daniel Bentley.
That secured all three points for Rovers as the Shrimpers sunk to their second successive heavy defeat at home in a row having been beaten 4-0 by Milllwall on Monday.
