Greece officially eliminated from qualifying for Euro 2016 with loss

Finland piled more misery on 2004 champions Greece with a 1-0 win in their European Championship qualifying Group F tie in Piraeus.

Substitute Joel Pohjanpalo scored the only goal of the game when he rifled an effort past Greek goalkeeper Orestis Karnezis in the 75th minute.

Already without much hope of qualifying for the finals, the hosts pushed for an equaliser with both Panagiotis Tachtsidis and Jose Holebas forcing injury-time saves out of Lukas Hradecky.

Finland's win retains their faint hopes of forcing a way into the play-of place while Greece remain bottom of the group without a win after seven games and are officially eliminated.
