Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos trains alone, Keylor Navas eyes return

Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos trained alone on Thursday as he recovers from a broken nose, but goalkeeper Keylor Navas was back in training with the group ahead of the game against Malaga.

Ramos suffered the broken nose in the recent draw at Atletico Madrid, while Navas, who has been sidelined by a muscle injury, last featured against Tottenham in the Champions League on Oct. 17.

Navas completed the morning training session, a Real Madrid statement said, and is expected to return to action at the Bernabeu on Saturday.

Ramos, meanwhile, remains a doubt after he was accidentally kicked in the face by Atletico's Lucas Hernandez and had to be replaced at half-time.

Real said his condition would continue to be assessed and have yet to confirm whether he will undergo surgery.

It was initially thought that the defender would sit out a few matches, but he could now be back sooner after running on Thursday morning.

AS reported that Ramos had decided against having an operation and hoped to return to action as soon as possible.

Marca said he was likely to miss Saturday's game but could play at Athletic Bilbao on Dec. 2.

The newspaper said he would wear a lightweight protective mask, made from carbon fibre, when he returned to action.

Ramos posted a photograph of himself giving a thumbs-up on his Twitter account three days after the Atletico game with the message: "Step by step."

On Tuesday, he posted a video of himself training along with the message: "Nothing can stop me."

The 31-year-old suffered a similar injury 10 years ago but returned just three days later, scoring against Barcelona at the Camp Nou.
