How Nigerians fared in Europe this weekend

KweséESPN reviews the weekend performances of Nigerian players across the top European leagues.

In the Premier League, Leicester City's Wilfred Ndidi maintained his good start to the season in an eventual 2-1 home loss to Liverpool. The midfielder had a 83.6 percent pass accuracy, and won three aerial duels.

Compatriot Kelechi Iheanacho played a decisive role as a second half- substitute for the Foxes. The forward's persistence paid off as he dispossessed goalkeeper Alisson of the ball, providing the assist for Leicester's goal.

Isaac Success was handed more game-time off the bench, playing the final 20 minutes of Watford's impressive 2-1 win against Tottenham Hotspur at Vicarage Road.

In the Championship, Oghenekaro Etebo was in action for 81 minutes, but couldn't prevent a third loss of the season for Stoke City, who were beaten 2-1 away at West Bromwich Albion.

New Super Eagles invitee Semi Ajayi started second successive league in a defensive midfield role for Rotherham United, who lost 1-0 at Wigan Athletic.

Sheyi Ojo, who is on a season-long loan from Liverpool, played the final 12 minutes on his Reims debut, an eventual 1-0 home defeat against Montpellier.

In Belgium, Dennis Bonaventure hit target in the 37th-minute for champions Club Brugge, who emerged 5-2 winners away at Zulte-Waregem.

In Scotland, Efe Ambrose played the entire match for Hibernian, who lost 2-1 away at Livingston.

In Portugal, Kelechi Nwakali was fielded for 77 minutes and Musa Yahaya was subbed off at half-time in FC Porto B's 2-1 home win against Academico de Viseu.

In Turkey, Ogenyi Onazi opened the scoring for Trabzonspor in the third minute, while forward Anthony Nwakaeme hit a first-half brace on his first league start as they trounced Galatasaray 4-0, who paraded Henry Onyekuru for 81 minutes.

Emem Eduok started his fourth successive league game for table-toppers Kasimpasa, playing 73 minutes in a 2-1 home victory against Ankaragucu.

Aminu Umar was on from start to finish for Rizespor, who suffered a 2-1 away loss at Antalyaspor.

Sincere Seth played the full match duration of Yeni Malatyaspor's 1-0 home loss to Konyaspor.
