South African Premier Soccer League side Ajax Cape Town have continued their recent recruitment drive with the signing of Nigerian winger Ejike Uzoenyi, the club confirmed on Wednesday.

The 29-year-old, who has also previously turned out for Mamelodi Sundowns and BidVest Wits in South Africa, has been handed a four-year contract and follows the capture in the last few days of Innocent Nemukondeni and Junaid Sait.

Uzoenyi, who previously had a spell at French Ligue 1 side Stade Rennes, will be hoping for a change in fortunes in a career that has stumbled of late.

His two seasons at Sundowns and half a year spent at Wits earned him just a single league start as he battled with injury and fitness.

Uzoenyi caught the eye of South African clubs when he competed for Nigeria in the 2014 African Nations Championship, and later went to the FIFA World Cup in Brazil, playing against Bosnia-Herzegovina.
