Jose Mourinho, Paul Pogba filmed in tense exchange at Manchester United training

Jose Mourinho's tense relationship with Paul Pogba showed no sign of easing after footage emerged on Wednesday appearing to show a tense exchange between the pair at training.

The video, filmed by Sky Sports, showed Pogba and Mourinho involved in what appeared to be an uncomfortable conversation at the club's Carrington's training base.

It came just hours after Mourinho confirmed the Frenchman will no longer be considered for captaincy duties despite wearing the armband three times this season in the absence of Antonio Valencia, the club's designated captain.

Cameras from Sky Sports and Premier League Productions are invited to watch certain training sessions throughout the season. Pogba was part of a small group of senior players to train at Carrington on Wednesday following the Carabao Cup defeat to Derby County on penalties on Tuesday night along with Luke Shaw, Marcus Rashford, Victor Lindelof, Andreas Pereira and Scott McTominay. The players who were part of the team against Derby took part in a recovery session away from the main group.

Sources have told ESPN FC that Mourinho's decision to strip Pogba of the vice-captaincy is the latest episode in an increasingly despondent situation between manager and club. Senior players are said to be "angry and frustrated" at Mourinho's man-management.

Manchester United, who are eight points off Premier League leaders Liverpool, face West Ham on Saturday afternoon at the London Stadium.

Pogba was rested for the Carabao Cup defeat to Derby but is in contention to feature at the weekend.
