MANCHESTER, England -- Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho insisted he has no problem with Ed Woodward during a spiky news conference at Carrington on Friday.
There has been speculation that Mourinho's relationship with United's executive vice-chairman has become strained after key targets failed to arrive during the transfer window.
But during a terse meeting with the media that started a half-hour early and lasted only four and a half minutes, the Portuguese coach denied a rift.
Asked whether the relationship with Woodward is fine, the 55-year-old replied: "Of course."
Pushed about any problem between the pair, he replied: "No."
Speaking ahead of the game against Tottenham at Old Trafford on Monday, Mourinho also refused to answer a question about centre-backs Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof after the pair were at fault in the 3-2 defeat at Brighton, saying: "I do not analyse my players with you."
He also declined to answer a question about what sort of test Tottenham will present. He said: "I am not going to comment."
The United boss also refused to expand on Paul Pogba's comments following the defeat at Brighton when he said that his attitude was not "right."
"Paul said it, he has to answer for his words," Mourinho said. "If you want any explanation about Paul's words you must get him and ask him."
Later, in answer to a question about whether there has been an overreaction to the result at the Amex Stadium, Mourinho replied: "You are pessimistic, I'm not."
Mourinho did go on to admit that it has been a trying week following the loss but rejected a suggestion that the Tottenham game represents a good chance to get back on track.
"I think difficult, difficult is after the match you lose, is always difficult, especially for people that really care about the job, about being football professional, but after that you think about the next match," he said.
"You do the same when you win, you have to move on and focus what next and when you lose you have to do even more.
"You have to play against 19 opponents at Old Trafford and away, you have to play against everyone, I don't know if it's the right time.
"The time is now, the fixtures were decided this way and we have to play Tottenham Hotspur in the second match at Old Trafford and then we go away twice in a row to Burnley and Watford.
"This is what it is and of course it's a difficult match, a team that last season finished in top four. So a difficult match."
Mourinho is set to welcome back Nemanja Matic and Antonio Valencia against Mauricio Pochettino's side following injuries, but did not mention Alexis Sanchez, who missed the trip to Brighton with a muscle problem.
"I don't know [about injuries] because today is still Friday and we have training Saturday and Sunday, match Monday and decisions to be made Sunday but yes [Matic and Valencia are] training with the team," he said.
"[Diogo] Dalot is also training with the team for the first time this week so in terms of medical department they are almost free."
