Manchester United give Marcus Rashford famous No. 10 shirt

Marcus Rashford will wear the No. 10 shirt for Manchester United this season.

Appearing in Sunday's 1-0 friendly defeat to Bayern Munich, Rashford became the first player to wear the shirt since Zlatan Ibrahimovic made his final United appearance in December.

The 20-year-old also inherits the shirt from notable past wearers including Wayne Rooney -- who wore it the 10 seasons before Ibrahimovic -- Mark Hughes, Teddy Sheringham and Ruud van Nistelrooy.

United boss Jose Mourinho suggested after the game that the decision was a reward after his meteoric rise over the last two and a half years.

"He always wanted it," Mourinho said. "He always respected Rooney and then Zlatan wanted to have it. Of course he was in the shadows waiting for the opportunity.

"The shirt is empty. It's something fantastic the kid, let's give it to him."

Rashford has already changed his shirt number once before, moving from No. 39 to No. 19 in 2016.
