Manchester United's Romelu Lukaku in Belgium for treatment ahead of FA Cup final

MANCHESTER, England -- Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku has been sent to a clinic in Belgium to speed up his recovery from an ankle injury and ensure he is fit for the FA Cup final.

Lukaku was substituted in the second half of United's 2-1 win over Arsenal on Sunday after suffering the injury.

After undergoing a scan on Monday, Lukaku has spent the week at Move to Cure in Antwerp, also used by Marouane Fellaini, under the supervision of physiotherapist Lieven Maesschalck.

Lukaku, who has scored 27 goals this season, was absent from United's player of the year awards on Tuesday and is unlikely to be available for the Premier League game at Brighton on Friday.

But sources told ESPN FC that United medical staff are confident he will be fit for the FA Cup final against Chelsea on May 19 and there is hope he could play a part before the end of the Premier League season.

After the trip to Brighton, United play West Ham at the London Stadium on Thursday and finish their league campaign against Watford at Old Trafford three days later.
