Manchester United need to bounce back against Huddersfield this weekend after two defeats in their last three games, according to Michael Carrick.
Jose Mourinho takes his team to the John Smith's Stadium on Saturday for their FA Cup fifth-round tie after defeats to Tottenham and Newcastle in the last fortnight.
United have been the subject of plenty of criticism this week after slipping 16 points behind Manchester City in the title race, but Carrick insists the players are determined to get a positive result against Huddersfield.
"There is definitely a determination to put it right," he told MUTV. "You can't ignore the fact that, when you have a bad result or two, there is criticism and scrutiny that comes with it. You expect it and get used to it.
"The feeling from me and the lads in general is a determination to get back out there and put it right and bounce back. You can't sit and mope about it. It is what it is and that's why we play for this club. There is a responsibility to do well and you have to deal with it."
United are facing a critical week in their season with the Champions League round-of-16 first leg with Sevilla on Wednesday and a Premier League clash with Chelsea at Old Trafford the following Sunday.
"It is the most exciting time of the season, certainly, because everything is to play for," Carrick added. "You want to get through to the next round of the cup competitions, but it can also end there and then.
"It is when the pressure and expectation cranks up and it changes, but that is what we want to be involved in -- the big games, the edgy games, coming out on top and that's what makes winning so special."
Carrick, who will become a first-team coach at United when he retires, has endured a frustrating season at Old Trafford after undergoing a routine heart procedure in October.
The 36-year-old was only able to make one appearance for the first six months of the season but has returned to feature in two of the last four games, including a substitute appearance against Newcastle on Sunday.
"It is great to be back," he said. "I have managed to get involved in the last couple of weeks.
"It has been a bit of a long season for me, a frustrating one for me personally, but it is what it is and I just have to get on with it. So it is nice to be back now and I am looking to push on with a good finish to the season."
