Manchester United must 'turn up' to see off top-six rivals - Paul Scholes

Manchester United's season rests on winning games against their top-six rivals, Paul Scholes has said.

United were impressive in beating Watford 4-2 at Vicarage Road on Tuesday to stay in touch with Manchester City at the top of the table.

But with Arsenal and City to come in their next two Premier League fixtures, Scholes said those games will decide how successful United are this season.

He told BT Sport: "I think where they are going to be judged now is in the big games. They have to start winning these games, because they haven't really.

"The Liverpool game away [a goalless draw], they were poor. The Chelsea game [a 1-0 defeat], they were poor again. Saturday against Arsenal is a big game and they have to turn up.

"It's very difficult to criticise when you're winning games, especially when you're scoring four goals. But they've really got to turn up in these big games and win some of them."

United have a respectable record against the top six at Old Trafford with Manchester City the only one of them to win there since Jose Mourinho took over, but have struggled away.

In seven away matches against top-six rivals under Mourinho, United are yet to win and have scored only once.

But United have the chance to break that run on Saturday against Arsenal at the Emirates, where they were beaten 2-0 last season.
