Napoli midfielder Jorginho said he was pleased to have been praised by Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola after the sides met in the Champions League earlier this season.
City, along with Premier League rivals Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal, have been linked with a move for the Italy international.
Reports in Italy claimed United representatives had met Jorginho's agent after Italy played Argentina in Manchester on Friday.
But the 26-year-old focused on the comments made by Guardiola, who described him as "marvellous."
"It's always nice to receive compliments, but it's spectacular when they come from a manager with that importance and winning past," Jorginho told reporters.
"He's a global icon. All I can do is to be grateful. This is a consequence not just of my work but of all my teammates in Napoli."
Jorginho, who played in Italy's 1-1 draw with England at Wembley on Tuesday, said he believed his game would be suited to the Premier League.
"I think that I could fit. It depends on who else is around me -- I need players with the same characteristics that I have," he added.
"There are English teams with this style of play, ball on the ground, quick transitions, high pressure.
"If one of those teams wanted me, I could fit and the other way round. My football way is not an usual one."
But Jorginho stressed that he remained focused on trying to land Napoli's first Serie A title in 28 years, saying: "I'm really keen to make history with Napoli and win the league."
Meanwhile, City defender Vincent Kompany said there would be no easing up even if Guardiola's side wrapped up the Premier League within days.
City, 16 points clear of United at the top of the table, could clinch the title with victory in the Manchester derby on April 7 and are also preparing to face Liverpool in the Champions League quarterfinals.
But Kompany said: "No, no, no, Guardiola doesn't let anyone take a breather, even in friendly games.
"We have quite an exciting period of games coming up. We're preparing for Everton, which is a big away game for us, and then there's Liverpool, United, Liverpool and Spurs -- that's what great in football."
