Liverpool must replicate Man City performance every week - Wijnaldum

Georginio Wijnaldum has urged Liverpool to replicate the performance that saw them beat Manchester City at Anfield in every game for the rest of their season.

Liverpool ended City's unbeaten Premier League run with pulsating 4-3 victory on Sunday.

It means Jurgen Klopp's side are unbeaten in 18 matches in all competitions and third in the table, three points adrift of second-placed Manchester United.

And Wijnaldum told the club's official website: "Every game is a new game. We have shown that we can beat Manchester City, a good team -- one of the best in the league.

"But we have to put in that performance every week. That's the biggest challenge we have. I don't want to say: 'It says this about us' because every game is a new game and we have to perform."

A stunning eight-minute spell in the second half saw Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah strike to put Liverpool into a 4-1 lead.

And Klopp praised his players for recognising the opportunity to continue attacking in the immediate aftermath of the Firmino goal that made it 2-1.

"The plan was there from the beginning and the boys did really, really well," he said.

"At 1-0, you cannot control them all the time, that's just not possible -- the pitch is too big for that and they use the space.

"But we did good. In the decisive moments you need to be there, and I'm even happy about the result because I think if you didn't see the game then the result is exactly what you need to imagine you missed, because we deserved to win but they deserved to score.

"In the second half, in this period when we scored, we played pressing from another planet.

"Really, I saw a few nice games in my life but this period was really one of the better ones. I'm really happy."
